Children will be able to reach different places & be back home without getting lost in the way.
Children will be aware of how Aircrafts and Ships use direction compass to reach their respective destinations .
Children will be able to demonstrate how to use a map legend .
Children will be able to create a map/sketch of familiar areas.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Students will be able to:-
Label and follow the cardinal directions.
Identify and read different types of maps.
Draw the essential key components of a map.
Explain the uses of compass.
DAY 1 CONCEPT FLOW
Teacher will have recap. of students'previous knowledgeby a pre-lesson activity game to find the locationof different buildings by using the basic terms left,right ,straight , turn around , behind etc. followed by introduction of the appropriate terms

DAY 2 Teacher will showcase a PPT.(G:\card direc.odp),compass &charts to make the concepts of cardinal directions and use of compass clear to the students.

DAY 3 Teacher will have a hands on activity by distributing different types of printed maps...THEMATIC..POL..PHYSICAL..CLIMATE etc. &ask them ques..like which map would you use if you have to visit another country? or which map would you use if you have to go on higher elevation or which map is used if you have to go to a particular place in your city?... followed by the discussion about types of maps. A Ppt. to strengthen the concept will be showcasedG:\card direc.odpin the classroom.
DAY 4 Teacher will show Components of a map through PPT....&Online Quiz game(ppt form) on symbols..G:\SYMBOLS EXERCISE.ppt
DAY 5 Teacher will have FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT of the students by a RUBRIC PROJECT...MY SCHOOL SKETCH..
DAY 6 Teacher will distribute Worksheets for different types of learners..
DAY 7 Teacher will have Quiz on cardinal directions..(ppt form)G:\Cardinal Directions (3).ppt
