LEARNING OBJECTIVES: The students will be able to:
·       distinguish between the nominal and real executive in a parliamentary democracy.
·       describe the qualifications and method of election of the President of India.
·       explain the executive, legislative, financial and judicial powers of the President.
·       explain the position of the President, describe the role of the Vice-President in the Indian Political System.
·       Compare the role and powers of the President, Vice President, Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
·       describe how the Prime Minister is appointed and how his/her Council of Ministers is constituted; l explain the powers and functions of the Prime Minister and his/her Council of Ministers;

·       Executive - Definition of Executive, Discussion of two types of executive (nominal and real executive)
·       The President - Qualification, Tenure, Election of President, Impeachment
·       The President – Powers and Functions of the President
·       Vice President - Qualification, Tenure, Election of Vice President, role and functions of the Vice President.
·       Union Council of Minister – Appointment, Qualification, Coalition government and Functions
·       Prime Minister – Appointment, Role and Functions of Prime Minister

TEACHING STRATEGY/ METHODOLOGY
·       Brain Storming, Discussion, Explanation, Demonstration, Examples,  Experiential Learning
·       To test the previous knowledge of the students and to gear up the students a Brain Storming session will be taken up in the classroom by the teacher.
·       It will be followed up by the Discussion of the executive (nominal and real executive), role of the President, Vice President and Demonstration of  PPT.
·       Explanation of difference between nominal and real executive, powers and functions of President, Vice President, Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
·       Examples pertaining to National, State emergency will be given by the teacher to the students for better understanding of the topic
·       To provide Experiential learning to the students role play of oath taking ceremony will be conducted in class

FOLLOW UP /REMEDIAL STRATEGY
·       On the basis of the students performance in the class assignments, class response formative assessments; the teacher will enlist the common errors committed by the students.
·       Practice can be given for correcting the spelling mistakes and bringing accuracy and neatness in the drawing of diagrams.
·        Peer groups can be made to help the weak students.
·        Correction of the mistakes must be done in their notebooks.
 DISCUSSION OF CONCEPTUAL ERRORS
 
Two fold approach can be adopted:
1. Repeating the explanation of the topic .
2. Adopting new techniques to explain that content which is easier for the students to grasp, e.g Graphic Organizer, Worksheets
3. In cases where there would be improvement they should be appreciated in front of the class.
4. In cases, where there is no improvement or deterioration, they should be given separate
remedial class. Parents need to be informed
