Learning Outcome:
  1. To sensatize students towards marginalized groups.
  2. They will be aware of Constitutional Provisions which safeguards the interests
of marginalized groups.
    1. They will have awareness of Directive Principles of State Policy.
    2. They will come to know about the Government's welfare programmes for
S.C\S.T.\O.B.C./Minorities.
5. They will understand the Reservation Policy.
Learning objectives:

Content:
  1. Constitutional provisions (Fundamental rights and Directive Principles of State Policy) related to safeguarding the marginalized will be discussed.
  2. Role of Government and the welfare programmes for S.C. / S.T. / O.B.C. / Minorities will be explained.
  3. Reservation policy for the upliftment of backward classes.
  4. Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989 to protect the members of S.C. / S.T. from various offences.
  5. People’s aspirations and the goal of the government.



Teaching strategy/ methodology:

EXPLANATION, DISCUSSION, GIVING EXAMPLES, VIEWING PICTURS AND DOCUMENTARY MOVIES.

  1. The teacher will explain the background of marginalized groups.
  2. It will be followed by the discussion that why there was lack of education and discrimination in the society. For this some pictures of slavery and discrimination of untouchable can be shown to the students.
  3. Teacher will explain the fundamental rights which contain special provisions for the minorities by giving examples for each provision.
  4. Directive Principles of State Policy can be explained by showing newspaper cutting for various welfare programmes of the government.
  5. Reservation policy can be justified by describing petty condition of weaker section of society before and after independence.
  6. To prevent offences against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, by watching films and documentary movies, TV Serials, like “Udaan” (on bonded labour) can be suggested to students. Visit the website www.infochangeindia.org to find out the main provisions of the ‘Preventions of Atrocities Act1989’ for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
