 LEARNING OBJECTIVES: After studying the chapter, the students will be able to:
·        Identify the reason for drawing international attention to racial discrimination in the United States during Mexico Olympics.
·        Differentiate Overlapping and Cross-cutting differences.
·        Analyze the causes which led to the division of Yugoslavia into six independent countries.
·        Examine the reason for continued tension in Northern Ireland.
·        Explain the three deciding factors in the outcome of politics of social division.

3.     Why Catholics and Protestant are have conflict in Northern Ireland, while they do not do so in Netherlands?

Animated video based on life of Martin Luther King Jr. will be shown.

The teacher will ask the following Questions.
 1. Who are Catholics and Protestant?
2. N. Ireland is a colony of which country?
(Before explaining them that this country is divided into North and south Ireland)

Students will mark  N.Ireland and Yugoslavia with its 6 independent countries.

a)Case study of N. Ireland.
Differences between Catholics and Protestants led to the division of the country.

b) Case study of Yugoslavia where politics of Social division led to the division of the country.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
And when this happens, and when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"
