SUB TOPICS: Types of Minerals, Distribution of Minerals , Types of   sources of energy resources and their uses and importance Distribution of sources of energy resources, conservation of energy resources
DURATIONS: 7periods
LEARNING OUTCOME: After studying the chapter students will be able to:
. explain the distribution of minerals in India and world and their uses
. understand the need to conserve minerals and energy resources and      resources
.  To make them aware about the importance of conservation of minerals and energy resources.
      LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
. define mineral, rocks, ore, fossil fuel, and placer deposits
.classify the minerals resources on the basis of their properties
.Enable the students to locate the minerals and energy rich areas.
CONTENT FLOW:
i.                   Mineral Resources
ii.                Types of mineral resources – metallic, non metallic and mineral
iii.              Distribution of mineral resources
iv.              Conservation of minerals
v.                Types of energy resources- conventional and non conventional sources of energy
vi.              Understand the need to conserve mineral and energy resource and suggest measures.
TEACHING STRATEGY/METHODOLOGY
i.                   Concept mapping: Helps in learning the types of minerals
ii.                Group discussion: students will be divided in groups each group will be allotted with different types of mineral and sources of energy resources .
iii.              Demonstration (Role Play): use of different methods to create awareness among students to conserve minerals and sources of energy resources.
iv.              Map skills: Enable the students to understand the distribution of minerals and conventional and non conventional sources of energy.
